Having been monitoring the Lapwing chicks on Marsh Farm as they grow, I was excited to find last week that some of the larger ones could fly! Thats right they are no longer chicks but fledglings! Why not come down and see if you can spot them. Two were having a wander about in front of the Visitor Centre yesterday morning.
And if you want to see younger chicks there are still some about, including in front of 360 hide. Here, yesterday afternnoon, I watched the parents chase off a pair of avocets who were also trying to protect their young chicks who had wandered close to the lapwing brood. A great battle, until the avocet chicks wandered to the far side of the pool.
So why not come down to Frampton and see what families you can find.
Eight sand martin holes in the bank seemed to be in use when I watched for about 3/4 hour on Tuesday afternoon.
