Found on the short trail , well up in the canopy. I'd like to think this is an unusual Photograph , and was pleased that this was my first Hawfinch sighting after many years of searching. Thank you to chris the RSPB warden at the visitors centre for invaluable information on where to begin looking.
Many more photos taken of this bird and Juvenile. If anyone would like to see more then please do email me and I'll be happy to upload them.
Unfortunately, this is a Chaffinch feeding a juvenile. But the Hawfinches are out there, so keep looking!
Hi Lewis , and thanks for your comments. I tend to disagree as this bird is the same bird , on the same branch as My first photo in sequence , (see first pic , "Hawfinch with juv). I do hope I'm wrong in confusing a Hawfinch with a chaffinch though. I'll upload the rest of the photo's i took in the sequence. Thanks again.
now confirmed by many others as a Chaffinch! back to the drawing board! Thanks again for the time to look at and comment on the photo. Lee
There are quite a few Hawfinches around Parkend at the moment. I have seen 6 feeding in my garden today!
