Just to let you know that the final outline plans will be on display from the end of next week onwards with events at Meare and Westhay as well as the Avalon Marshes Centre itself.

Final plans for the Avalon Marshes Centre are now being drafted following the consultation on the sketch plans at the end of the summer. The latter was very positive with over 200 people viewing the plans, more than 100 of whom completed questionnaires.

All this information is helping to inform the final plans, which will be on display at the Avalon Marshes Centre from Saturday 24th November to Saturday 8th December, and at the following venues when David Evans, the Avalon Marshes Centre Development Officer, will be on hand to explain the plans:

Meare Manor, Meare Saturday 24th November, 10am – 1pm

Avalon Marshes Centre Saturday 24th November, 2pm – 4pm

Café Westhay, the Schoolroom, Westhay Saturday 1st December, 10.30am – 12.30pm

Avalon Marshes Centre Saturday 1st December, 2pm – 4pm

Copies of the plans will also be on display at Café Burtle at Burtle Village Hall from 10.30am – 12.30pm on Saturday 1st December

The plans will then be submitted for planning permission and funding early in 2013. The project has been developed by a partnership of Natural England, Somerset County Council, Somerset Wildlife Trust, the RSPB and the Hawk and Owl Trust, all of whom manage land or reserves in the area.”
