We enjoyed our first visit to Lakenheath today - a 150-mile round trip from our starting point in Hertfordshire. Many thanks to Les in the Visitor Centre for providing a warm welcome and helpful information on our arrival, and again at the Washland viewpoint later. A big 'thank you' also...

5/6/2012 Visited the reserve early this morning and had a good view of Oriole flying between both poplar woods ,that was all but heard plenty of calls and singing from what sounded like 2.On way in had a treat of a Barn Owl sitting on a roadside fence post near the auction barn at lakenheath village...

lucky to see pair of marsh harriers from new fen viewpoint on sat 24th march.Also whilst having our picnic lunch saw approx 4 common buzzards high on thermals above car park near to railway crossing.Volunteer John was on great form as usual sighning up more members.
