Thought I would post a few pics of our newly adapted woodland bird feeding station. With just a few adjustments we hope it will get the birds a bit closer to you and be better for taking photos.
David, our warden found some dead branches and has hung feeders from them instead of the pole we had previously. We have also tried to vary the distances between them to suit different camera lenses-let us know how you get on!
The aim is also to have branches near to the feeders that are more attractive and photogenic where the birds will perch before going on the feeders.
I'd love to see any pictures you get! Please post them on our gallery here or on our Flickr group.
The birds have taken to it very quickly, with all sorts coming this morning when I went to have a look. Marsh tits seem to be visiting a lot at the moment too, although you have to be quick for that perfect photo!
The closest feeder (below) looks like this with my compact digital that has a zoom lens X 5.7. I have been told that compact cameras can have X10 or even X12 lenses so that would be a fairly close shot of a bird when it lands. I'd be interested to hear from you!
We have also made some nice new woodland feeding station bird identification panels which will soon be arriving too. Watch this space!
