The sightings started early this morning! Between 7.15 and 7.30 am two spotted redshanks and a hobby were noted at the Eric Morecambe pools. At 7.35 am a visitor watched two female marsh harriers displaying from the layby on Storrs Lane and caught a sight of a sparrowhawk. A male marsh harrier was seen later at 2.10 pm from the Lilian's hide and an otter also put in an appearance at 12.30 pm at the Lilian's hide. At the Griesdale hide a deer was seen grazing with a fawn - what a lovely sight that must have been!
There have been several osprey sightings today. At 9.30 am an osprey was seen being escorted by godwits out to the west from the Tim Jackson hide. At 10.25 am a further sighting was had over Island Mere, and later in the day an osprey was reported at the Griesdale hide.
The marsh harriers were displaying well today, including making a food pass and the female was seen nest gathering. Two unringed bearded tits (a female and a juvenile) were seen at the Lower hide this morning and an adult and juvenile great crested grebe were also about. A visitor managed to get some fantastic photos of a kingfisher fishing and perching with a fish at the Public hide, while at the Griesdale hide a little egret was seen along with a stag and female red deer. I spent about 10 minutes in the Tim Jackson hide this morning and got a lovely sight of a stag with a fantastic set of antlers appearing out of the reeds for a brief moment and melting away again!
An osprey was again reported, viewed at the Lilian's hide at 2.45 pm and later over at the Causeway from the Public hide.
At the Eric Morecambe pools the waders are doing well. One greenshank, two spotted redshanks, 342 black tailed godwits, five herons and three little egrets were counted this afternoon.
Today we had two spotted redshanks, six little egrets and one greenshank on the Eric Morecambe pools.
We had a hobby reported at the Lower hide at 7.15 this morning, and two ospreys were seen over the Causeway at 8.40 am and again at 10 am on the tree opposite the Public hide catching fish.
Slightly further afield, a sighting of a cettis warbler was reported at Freeman's Pool at Glasson, Lancaster.

I haven't posted for a few days so here are some highlights for the missing few days: an otter was seen from the Lower hide on both Friday 24 and Saturday 25 June, several pink footed geese have been seen both at the Griesdale hide and on the Eric Morecambe pools, and an osprey was sighted on Firday at 10.20 am at Island Mere.
Today's muggy weather doesn't seem to have put the wildlife off; there have been some good sightings! Two osprey were circling in front of the Lilian's hide between 11.20 and 11.50 am and were then seen catching fish at the Griesdale hide at 11.50. One visitor excitedly showed me a picture he'd taken on the Causeway of two birds which he thought might be bearded tits, and much to his delight they were indeed two females! The marsh harriers continue to display well as they feed their chicks.
A kingfisher was seen at the Eric Morecambe hide along with two spotted redshanks.
