Red Deer 'Date with Nature'
Every Wednesday to Sunday, 12.30 - 5 pm until 2nd of September.
I thought I'd mention this again in case you haven't been yet. Our friendly staff and volunteers will be on hand to point out our red deer to you through the telescope and help you to discover lots of quirky things about them. See the calves bounding like spring lambs, there's 4 of them up to now, and look out for the stags with their huge antlers. Normal admission prices to the reserve apply. It's £10 per family, £5 per adult or if you are a member of the RSPB then it's free.
Family Map Challenge
Wednesdays 1, 8, 15, 22 August at any time between 10 am and 3 pm.
Bring your family team to have a go at our self-guided map challenge around part of the reserve. Normal admission prices apply: for families it costs £10 but RSPB members go for free.
Deer Watch
Every Monday and Friday evening in August at 7 pm until 9 pm
Enjoy a guided walk for all the family to look for our red deer and other summer wildlife. Our shop will be open from 6.30 pm.
The cost for a family is £10 for non-members or £4 for RSPB members. For adults the cost is £5 (£2 for members), and for children the cost is £2 (£1 for members). No need to book, just turn up!
Pond Dipping
Two dates: Thursdays 9 or 23 August
Two sessions to choose from: 11.30 am - 1 pm or 1.30 - 3 pm
You'll be amazed at what weird creatures can be found underwater. This event is recommended for children over the age of 5 years and they must be accompanied by an adult (adults go free). The cost is £4 per child (or £3 for RSPB Wildlife Explorer members). Booking and payment in advance is essential. Please telephone our visitor centre on 01524 701601.
Wildlife Activity Day
Two dates: Tuesdays 14 or 21 August at 10.30 am - 2.30 pm.
Get outdoors this summer holiday and enjoy finding out things about wildlife, with games and activities. With the wildlife activity team you will explore Leighton Moss. You should be aged 8 years old or more for this 'parent free zone' and bring a packed lunch.
Booking and payment in advance is essential. We need at least eight young people to book on to this event for it to go ahead so give us a call as soon as you can on telephone number 01524 701601. The cost will be £14 for non-members or £12 for RSPB members.
Hobby Red Deer
One date: Thursday 16 August only
Two sessions: Choose either 11.30 am - 1 pm or 1.30 pm - 3 pm.
Make a red deer 'hobby horse'. Just bring along an old sock and you can find everything else you need on a short walk in our woodland. This event is recommended for children over the age of 5 years and they must be accompanied by an adult (adults go free). The cost per child is £4, or £3 for RSPB Wildlife Explorer members. Mud Dipping at Morecambe Bay
One date: Monday 20 August
Two sessions: 10 - 11 am or 11.30 am - 12.30 pm
Come along and join the RSPB for an introduction to the birdlife of the Bay and find the mud creatures that they eat. Wear wellies and waterproofs and be prepared to get muddy!
