Rothes is moving...
I've just entered the most recent data and Rothes has made a move. She left her beloved sturgeon farm yesterday morning (24th) around 9am. Heading south over La Gironde, past Soussans, and to the west of Bordeaux, she continued south near Parnetis-en-Born to the west of Parc Naturel Regional des Landes de Gascogne and on past Uza until reaching an area east of Ondres with an area of water called Etang d'yrieu where she roosted until 8am this morning, possibly catching some fish?
Then it was on again - the latest point that I have for her was 9am this morning (25th) when she was south of Bayonne near the border with Spain.
Meanwhile Mallachie was also on the move - she went slightly east along the reservoir north of Zebreira - so no real change for her. At 10am this morning that's where she was.
Rothes obviously decided to not do anything too strenuous before Richard got back from his holiday so that he wouldn't miss anything. But now he's back let's see where she goes next...
More next week.
At last! Thank you Alice, how nice to know Rothes is moving on. No doubt she needed the rest to recouperate and build her strength up, and now I presume the temperature is dropping a little in the area? I'd love to know how these young know where to go, and how to get there! I wonder where she will stop next.
thanks for the update alice so rothes has finally decided to move on good on her
Thanks for the update Alice. Rothes must have eaten all the fish at the sturgeon farm and decided it's time to move on. Pru
Thanks Alice. Rothes must have recharged her batteries and it's time to press on now - but to where?? Time will tell.
Thanks for update Alice. Rothes has moved on in her own time. Great to have the daily updates, the highlight of my day! Thanks very much to all.
Thanks, Alice .... I wonder where next? :)) Enjoy your weekend!
Great news - thanks Alice! Safe journey, Rothes!
Thanks for the update, Alice. I was beginning to think that Rothes had decided to stay there for the winter. It will be interesting to see where she goes next.
here we go again, on tenterhooks again. have a good weekend all
Hello Alice,
We're now back in England. The Etang de Yrieu is just south of the Marais d'Orx , a large nature reserve & a frequent osprey stopover. Will Rothes head over the Col d'Organbidexka or the of the lower passes like Lindux? The Migraction website (www.migraction.net) gives day to day reports - 6 ospreys through Organbidexka yesterday. The autumn migration through the Pyrennees is a real spectacle - highly recommended as a holiday trip!
Oh thrills ahead. Where will she go next?!
Good Luck Rothes - Thanks for the info Alice.
Can you imagine in 2 or 3 years time..... I hope Mr Jones has a campsite at his Sturgeon farm.... I think many of us will be considering a small holiday in the vacinity so we can catch a glimpse of Rothes in the future! It will no doubt be a stopping point for her in the future... (Please note my optimism ;-)
Thank you Alice. I think we were all getting a bit complacent with the no change blogs but now Rothes is on the move again we are all a little bit more edgy and worried.
Libellule : That is a truly fascinating site with lots of data to peruse. Thank you for the link.
Thanks again Alice. Oh dear. Here we go but I think every think will be fine. I know so :))))
