I didn't get much new data to enter today. Just 2 new points for Rothes - she was still on the mainland of Guinea Bissau, and headed N towards Sancatuto (as of 12noon yesterday, 19th).
Meanwhile Mallachie continued SW through Senegal passing over the Reserve de Faune du Ferlo Nord. At 5pm yesterday (the latest point I have) she was about 50km ish from the border with The Gambia.
Apologies for the failure of the map update yesterday - it should all get updated tonight by about 8pm ish.

Thank you once again Alice for the update. Let us hope our girls stay safe and happy with good fishing. It's amazing how far they have travelled at only a few months old. Saw our first Whooper swans with their cygnets today (about three dozen swans and two dozen cygnets). Lovely to hear and see.
Haven't posted for a while but I've been checking progress of all our birds (including those listed on Roy's site) regularly. All seems good this year, as far as we know, so fingers crossed for a good return migration in 2010 - or later for this year's chicks. Have a good autumn/winter everyone!
Mallachie looks like she is heading straight for Bird Island - we spent 4 or 5 days there in 2003 as part of a birding trip round The Gambia. Wonderful place for Ospreys & African Fish Eagles - nearly every large tree had 1 or the other perched on it. Again, many thanks for the updates
It would seem from GE's current positions that Rothes is checking out freshwater fishing possibilities. The river she is on at the moment has lots of white water, so the water is fresh and fast, at least in some parts of the year. Most of the tagged birds seem to be converging on the one area, so it will be interesting to see if any of them seem to be keeping company.
I haven't posted for a while but wanted to thank you and let you know i'm still following the blogs, i check everyday to monitor the progress of these marvellous birds, thank goodness all seems to be going well (so far) fingers & toes all crossed!!
