Mallachie's in The Gambia...

I'm afraid this is just a brief update as I've only just got back to the office after a pretty busy day.

Mallachie's most recent point is for 10pm last night (20th) when she was close to Jarreng Tenda in the Gambia. So she's still progressing south.

Rothes was still on the Guinea Bissau mainland, close to Varela, which is pretty close to Senegal. That was also at 10pm last night.

Please accept my apologies that I haven't entered any of the data in today - I just looked on google maps to see where the last known points are. As such the map won't get updated tonight. I'll make it a priority tomorrow.

More tomorrow.

  • Thanks very much Alice. Mallachie and Rothes are getting tantalisingly closer each day. All good news.

  • Absolutely no need to apologise, Alice. As long as we know all is well with the girls that is all that matters.

  • Agree with Sandy- You are a busy girl and we are happy to just hear that all is well.

  • Thanks Alice, for keeping us informed, even though you have lots going on. As others have said, just nice to know all is well.

  • Thanks so much for squeezing us in Alice!! Don't fret about not being able to do it all; we understand!

  • Thank you Alice, very much appreciated.  And, as the others say, you really don't need to apologise.  We are all just pleased our birds are doing so well.

  • Thanks Alice, it doesn't matter!  We are just glad to hear the girls are OK!

  • Thanks, Alice ... as others said, we appreciate any small 'crumb' of news about the girls!

  • When will the satellite data reports from the girls get less frequent. It must be soon now.

  • Brilliant news.  Been to Gambia a couple of times and seen Ospreys on many occassions but never close enough to read bling. Hope the news continues to be good.

  • O, Alice, you are so busy, and so good to us with these daily updates - thanks once again for letting us know where our girls are and that they are safe - that's all we need to know.  Take care!

  • First -- thanks dear Alice for your update.  Always appreciated.  We know and understand that you have many things going on and love that you take time for us.

Alan Petrie -- I agree, they're soooo close.  I think they may meet up and share their African adventure.  And, I'll bet Garten is traveling with Mallachie.  (A girl can dream, can't she?)

Carol -- If you look at last year's tracking, it goes on through February.  I don't know if that's the norm, but I think that's pretty close... about six months.

What Richard said a while back about the updates was:

" we should continue to get hourly fixes, which we will strive to up-date you on, on a daily basis, until 1st November when the regime changes to twice daily fixes and a weekly download." So, prepare yourselves, folks........

  • It is good to know they are so close bet wee Garten is there or there abouts with her sisters well fingers crossed

  • Oh, you are so good to us Alice. A million thank yous. And the girls are getting closer together :)

I hear you Carol. Many thanks  for the reminder (I hadn't !)
