Well the latest data from Rothes and Mallachie shows them both to have stayed in the same areas as the last update. The data is for up until 10pm yesterday (28th) for both of them, with Rothes still near Varela and Mallachie near Sotokoi. They are both making short flights in their local area, but not doing anything dramatic (at least not caught by the tracking devices!).
Here at Abernethy it's been a dry sunny day (from what I could tell looking out the window - it's been an office day for me today...). The weather's due to get wet again tomorrow though I think.
If you are in the area on Sunday afternoon (1st November) between 4 and 5pm, Richard and I will be at Loch Garten for the first of our 2 Goose Roost Watches. There's several 100 geese in the Strathspey area at the moment, with more still arriving from the north. We can't guarantee geese on the day, but Richard will have scopes and his expertise and I'll bring the tea and coffee... Bring waterproofs and warm clothes if you plan to come along (just in case...). There's another one on the Sunday after (8th).

Thankyou, Alice- sorry to hear you've had a 'boring' office day (I have them every day!) Glad the girls are safe and well. Like Suzyblu, I would dearly love to come to the goose-roost watch but S.Yorks is a tad too far away to get back in time for work on Monday. Maybe some day!
I am also glad they are settling down and I am sure that my Garten wil have also arrived safetly and found her holiday location. Keeping my fingers crossed as it would be fantastic for the LG team and all it's followers if we could follow our birds in Africa over the next few years as well as follow, hopefully EJ back for next season. We will all be nervous once we start to read the blogs weekly as last year with poor Nethy, maybe she is still there?
I was excited today as finally after 10 weeks I have my osprey print back which Claire gave me when I visted Loch Garten at the end of July and joined the RSPB. I have had it professionally framed to match a beautiful photo I took on the west coast of Harris which has been enlarged. They are both on my office wall to remind me of my fantastic Scottish holiday. I am calling the osprey EJ and will try and E-mail the artist to find out if it was a general osprey or one known to us, it will be interesting to see. Love to hear where other osprey enthuiasts have put their prints?

Thanks Alice all seems well with Mallachie and Rothes and perhaps they have now made their minds up. I like to think Garten is there somewhere as well. The news this year has just surpassed all expectations. ?So lucky Odin got himself out of the fishing line incident and went to provide for all his girls and EJ too.

Thanks again Alice. It seems as though they may be settled for the time being, lets hope so. Now they can get on with growing up and getting into tip top condition over the next few years before returning, lets hope, to Loch Garten or similar to bring up their own families - I know its a way off yet!!!!

Much too far away for the Goose Roost - wonder if I could see the Brent Geese on Strangford Lough, though they tend to forage on the eel grass when the tide is out. They come onto the saltmarsh when the tide is high and it's great to see them at the moment the tide turns and all start swimming again. (Sorry to digress from things Abernethy - it's just jealousy!
