Each year, the ospreys at Loch Garten have people across the world gripped in their tale of violence, adultery and... well... fishing.
This year's diary, written by the Osprey Information Assistants at the Loch Garten Osprey Centre, picks up the saga where we left off.
We update the blog at least twice a week - more often when there's high drama here. We hope you enjoy reading as the nest-side story unfolds...

Hello folks. Just wanted to bid you all a fond farewell as today is my last day at Loch Garten. It has been an absolute pleasure working here this season and I am taking with me, many great memories. There is something special about Abernethy forest and I feel very lucky to have lived and worked in such a beautiful place.
The opsrey season has been totally enthralling. EJ and Odin are remarkable birds and I really admire and respect them. I hope that Caledonia and Alba make it safley to west Africa and come back to Scotland in due course. I will, of course, be following them on Google Earth.
The next step for me is a short holiday and then back to work for the RSPB in Aberdeen. Definitely near-by enough for me to visit the Centre next season..!!
Thank you all for your support this season and enjoy watching the birds for the rest of the time they're here.........until next year!
Mairi I am a bit late I know , lovely meeting you this year and hope you are very happy in your future and maybe see you next year at LG , take care xx
It was lovely to meet you on my visits to Loch Garten during this season Mairi, and I do wish you all the very best in your new post in Aberdeenshire. Hopefully see you one of these days at Loch Garten ..... take care and all the best.
Good Luck in your new post Mairi. It was great to meet you at LG and many thanks for a pleasant stay in your chalet this July. I'm sure we will all be drawn back to Abernethy in the years to come! xx
Sorry Mairi, only just seen your blog. I am glad you have enjoyed your time at Abernethy I always feel it is a very special place too. Good luck in everything you do and "thank-you" for helping to look after our Ospreys this season...you all work so hard xx
Alba and Cally still here but still no sign of EJ yet this morning
Could we have an update from you please. have they or are the still here.
So it is 7.30 am and no ospreys have appears. Have they all left on the long journey south?
Bye Mairi, so glad you enjoyed your time at Abernethy and wish you well for Aberdeen.
Goodbye Mairi and hope you have a great holiday, good luck in all you do.
Bye Mairi, best wishes for the future & have a great holiday (in the sun, I hope).
Bye and thanks Mairi, hope all goes well for you.
Today seems a better day for migration. Still a bit blustery but nothing like it was yesterday with on off rain and strong winds.
A perfect morning for migration and both Caledonia and Alba have had large fish delivered to them by EJ. All the signs sem right.
Enjoy your new job Mairi.
All the very best, Mairi - glad you enjoyed your time at the centre. Thank you for your input to the blog during your stay and good luck for the future :-)
Mairi - It has always been a pleasure talking to you on my many visits to the centre this year. Last saturday we discussed your new position in Aberdeen and that we may bump into each other - but I also told you I would also be moving on to Dunblane.
Have a great break and I wish you all the best in your new position and am sure you will serve the Aberdeenshire area RSPB with the enthusiasm you have shown at Loch Garten this year.
Bye Mairi and good luck in Aberdeen. It was great to meet you earlier this year. Enjoy your break.
