Thanks.
I knew that there would be something as simple as that somewhere and I'd even had a look at my profile for a way to do this.
I think that I may have overlooked the "edit profile" button which seems to be pretty much isolated on its own, while everything else is on the left side of the page.
Surprisingly I don't seem to have been getting emails from other RSPB forums.

Testing TIGER and Loch Garten Nest Stats - 2012......had a quick 'technical' peek at laying and hatching dates..There seems to be a glitch with Egg #1 hatching date...listed as Thursday 16th May ?!? Diary wise there is Wed 16th or Thu 17th...I actually don't remember the correct hatching date...End of test ?:-?
Hi TBOL. I had put in right date but wrong day, thanks for pointing out. Corrected now :)

I'm just posting some VLC settings screenshots, hoping I'll eventually be able to guide NOC so's she can record with it. EVERYONE is welcome to chip in cos I'm not confident of remembering where things are in the complex Preferences sections.
Let me warn you that I've already confused myself nearly into oblivion with these screenshots, don't know what's what :o
==================================================
Open VLC, select TOOLS>Customise Interface:
You should see this:
You need to slide icons you do NOT want from right to the left panel, and vice versa for the ones you DO want. The above is my interface, which you can see in the first screenshot above. I haven't done it as well with this year's "new model" as I had it last year, hey ho. Just the basics, though, in Line 1: RECORD (that toggles on/off), SNAPSHOT, START, REW, STOP, SOUND, and PROGRESS.
It took me ages to get it more-or-less how I wanted it, especially dispensing with Line 2, cos we want VLC to be small to sit "always on top" and not impinge too much on other things.
Which reminds me, I haven't shown "always on top" = Open VLC, click Video from the menus across the top, tick "always on top".
===============================
At the bottom left of the Preferences box you can select SIMPLE or ALL. Select SIMPLE and highlight Input & Codecs on the left, then you can choose the folder where you want to save video recordings:
=======================
Selecting ALL, highlight Video on the left and you can choose the folder where you want to save SNAPSHOTS on the right, also how you want them named and whether to save as PNG or JPG (I advise JPG, it's smaller and some picture editors don't handle PNG).
==========================
I'm leaving it there for now, perhaps NOC you could have a play around, see how far you get with the above, then come back and ask questions to fill in the gaps I've left or to get corrections for and additions to the info I've given.
As I said, please feel free to chip in, ALL ;-D

EEK...one day I'll have to refer to this scylla but I don't have VLC installed.
Anyway, just thought I'd chip in... ;-P
A quick easy one for you experts.
When posting a posh link which option do you choose to allow the link to open minimised on top of the original post without loosing the original page.
When I do it - it closes my original page and opens a complete new web page to the link and it is annoying me.

Hi Keith, I use 'Open in new window'. The resulting behaviour varies with your browser and it's settings. In Internet Explorer I get a new window with original windows and tabs preserved. In FireFox I get a new tab opened next to the one with the link.
Someone else might give a better answer later.

I suppose it depends on what browser you are using. I use IE9
Snap TBOL :)
Just tried 'open in parent window' for first time and ended up with two identical tabs, both of which were the web address of the posted link. Won't be using that again. :)
Ignore this post it is just a test.

Chloe/TBOL Thanks your advice works even though I did not explain it very well to you.
I had been using "Open in this window" all the time and it knocks out the original window.
I shall blame my original tutor of POSH LINKS - LOL. Thank you Chloe and BOL.
A successful link Keith and it showed me that LG have apologised for poor broadband on that page. I hope you got the result you were after :-)
