Thanks Tiger.
Rach Just had a look at the Nottingham peregrines, that single chick is huge! Yes Ruthie, it's a very good read, isn't it? I feel very envious of those train passengers who get to see Nora and Monty every day. It's nice to know how much interest and good feeling those birds have engendered.

Kalakotkas, First egg this afternoon. Male trying to tempt female off egg with huge fish, but she has refused to move.
Lopsided nest at Kielder or what !!

Madis has just been allowed a peep of the egg, he was most interested! She won't let him have a go at incubating though.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Estonia first egg
Movie of first kalakotkas egg :-) (Yuk, it's buffering like buffery - OK on YouTube, maybe pause it for a while.)

Rach Has anyone heard how our old friend Blue XD and his mate are getting on? I've been wondering if they accepted the new nest, and if they have eggs.

Any answers to that one?
Cats and women will do as they please. Dogs and men should relax and get used to it.
Looks promising at Hailuoto now:
Copywright Voitto Pulkkinen
I don't know if this has already been reported, so copying what I put on the Weekly Chat earlier after a visit to Threave yesterday:
After much debate, we decided to go round the Gardens again instead of down to the riverbank to the Ospreys. We made the right decision as we found out later, in conversation with the Events Manager: Black 80 (formerly of Glaslyn) is still alone! A female tried to join him on the nest a few weeks ago, but he chased her off, and is apparently waiting for his unringed partner of 4 years to return!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Early morning in Estonia - Madis pays an unwelcome visit to drowsy "Kala", he inspects egg but doesn't sit (not that she'd let him yet):
Not long after and Madis is back, more successful this time but "Kala" is afraid to sit down again (and at this moment as I type Madis has returned and is on guard). The eggs have been getting quite a lot of exposure this past half-hour or so.
And he's back again - after this "Kala" got up and stood looking after him for a minute, those poor eggs!
Sorry, yet another kalakotkas video, but the situation is developing :o
Kala has been restless, needs a break, so when Madis flies in with moss he gets a shock when he's left alone with the egg. For a while he can only "preen" the nest-cup, but then he actually egg-sits. As I'm typing he's fidgety, toying with this 'n that. I wonder if this is the first time he's incubated the eggs? Surely it can't be, Kala needs breaks :o
"Kala" returns, Madis was very quick off the egg!
The end of the series!
