Just in the door, was warching three Ospeys tonight over my Lochan, again it seems like they are not in a hurry to fish, they spent around 20 mins chasing each other to sort out who is the dominant bird,  thats going to be important  for the months ahead

Hello,I agree Odin is great and I have said a few times recently if Odin had fish he would share with EJ.  But he can't hand over everything he catches nor can he survive on two fish heads a day so he has  to keep the odd fish to himself to give him the energy to fish for her.  If EJ was starving she would fish for herself when Odin is egg sitting.  

We all just think he is great and get disappointed as we don't like to hear EJ calling and calling and sitting there in the constant snow and rain.   Nature at its best... or worst!!!

Glad she has had two fish today.

That is an important point. Apparently there is heirarchy as to who gets to fish first.

We watched one Osprey doing exactly that at the Lochan yesterday.  Not fishing but sitting on his perch and chasing off other Ospreys that came close.   Fascinating morning and can't thank Gordon enough for his time.

Lmac ~ I enjoy keeping up with LotL and here, I don't like to seem to take over on the other one, but if it seems like no-one is updating info I try to do it for future ref, as I know I will look back on it one day and it is nice to have memories of Lady and the new Laddie to treasure. :)  Here I read mainly as LG is well covered and I thank all of you who do. I will take a back seat tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words Lmac, glad you enjoyed the early morning. not the warmest morning, but its good to see the Ospreys and hear them as they fish.

There is a heirarchy and right now they are sorting out who fishes first, when the dominant bird has fished the rest can follow, sitting on a perch is one way of showing who is the boss of that area.

It will be all sorted out pretty soon and the Ospreys will be able to fish more instead of chasing each other around, one funny thing is that as one chases the other away........ another sneaks in and fishes as quick as it can.....and all h""" breaks loose.

EJ seems a bit restless and gets up again to turn those eggs and tries to get comfy.
