  • Not happy yesterday. At 1218 I was waiting for bus to take me to TAG and my computer class. It appeared from the opposite direction than usual and I was taken unawares as I was looking in the other direction. I walked home and OH took me instead. After the class I stopped in town and made enquiries at the bus station. No change to timetable or route so they suggested driver error. Caught the bus home and hang on a minute, it routed the same way as this morning and to make matters worse driver failed to stop at the required bus stop. I had rung the bell and another passenger and I had to yell at him to stop, which he did some 50 yds passed the stop. When we suggested he had made a mistake he was sarcastic and irrated. Letter of complaint was handed in today.

Can't remember if I told you that on the first day of the digital camera course I bumped into the husband of an ex RAF colleague of OH. Hadn't met him before. Went to do my voluntary work in town, and guess what, there he was again and he has made enquiries about doing some voluntary work as well. What a small world.

  • Nottingham baby wondering how to get back in to its comfort zone! :-) And Charing Cross baby testing its wings. :-)

  • OG If you look in again before departing for the Highlands, have a great time. Do wish I could be going too.  Strathspey is so lovely at this time of year (at any time, really).  I hope you will all enjoy Roy Dennis' talk in BoG - we always seemeed to be a week too early or a week too late for his talks. Will you be taking photos so we can all put more faces to names? Hope the weather continues like this.  I have a dog obedience and agility competition tomorrow and am relieved that it's to be dry but worried about dogs getting too hot.

  • PATRICIAT  good luck tomorrow, but can understand your worry if it is hot. Will try and remember to take my camera to the talk but will defer to OGs better camera work.

  • Dibnib - despite the bus going the wrong way at least you bumped into an old colleague of your OH's and again in town  - small world - and he has said he would like to do some volunteer work  -  good outcome all round.

Sandra - lovely captures of the peregrine chicks

Patriciat - hope the dog agility competition goes well for you.

All - do hope you are all OK,  enjoy a warm weekend.

  • Another blue sky day here and hot already so Dillon has had his main walk before it is too hot for both of us. Will go for a swim in about an hour.

  • Afternoon all,

Scorching day here as well with current temp 26.6c. Fortunately there is a bit of a breeze or I am sure it would reach 30c. Spent a pleasant morning in Stamford and went to Elton for lunch at the garden centre there. Hamish had an early walk and will take him again when it gets cooler in the evening. Saw 3 red kites on our travels this morning. Not a lot else going on. Hope you enjoy the Eurovision tonight. LOL

  • Falcon chicks stolen from nest here

  • Son in Law is on holiday in Turkey temp 25c. Current temp here 27c.

  • Five baby Goshawks at Cwmcarn, S Wales :-)

Okay, Alan, I'm going to have a major whine and a whinge and a rant. Are you ready? ;-)))

It's 94 F or 34.4 C here today! And tomorrow, it's going to be near 100 F, which is 37.8 C!!! And it's not even June! Phew! I completed a huge shopping mission this afternoon, and the steering wheel of the car was painfully hot to touch. I burned my fingers when I put my groceries in the boot. LOLOL!!! I thought I was going to have to call Thunderbirds IR to unload all those groceries!

They are going to run the Indianapolis 500 Race tomorrow, and it will be the hottest race ever. I can't imagine being in that enormous crowd in that heat.

Enjoy the Eurovision tonight, everyone. I think Engelbert looks and sounds pretty darned good! And the grannies are cute.

  • Diane - I can't imagine how hot it must be for you! I do think, though ,that you guys are much better at living with the heat. To explain - up here in the Highlands of Scotland, when we get a few hot days, a lot of people strip off clothing, open doors curtains  and windows and melt! Where I grew up, in SouthWest England, on hot days we kept the curtains (?screens?) closed, did everything we could to keep the house cool (in UK we generally don't have air conditioning in our homes) I don't know if people still do that, but it worked for us!

  • Just looking in again.  A couple more pics from our holiday in Wales.  Went to Ludlow and took a pic of The Feathers Hotel there, an old facade, and of the Black Bull Hotel at the top of the hill.

  • Heather: It's actually way to early for us to have this kind of heat. We usually have a bit of it in August. You're right that most people here deal with it well. Except me. I hate it! LOL! It's just good that I'm single, and there's no one around to listen to me swear and complain. Well, the birds. But they're used to it, and they ignore me. Well, the Kingbirds swear back at me. :-)))

There was a turkey vulture circling me while I unloaded the groceries. I think he thought I was going to perish. LOLOL I swore at him, too.

I know what you mean; I have all the curtains closed today, and most of the lights off. But I should thank my lucky stars that I have AC. I can't imagine what my poor ancesters endured without it. We are so spoiled today.

Hope you're doing okay, Heather! Have you recovered from your holiday?
