DAILY UPDATE (Loch Garten nest) Wednesday 23 May 2012

  • Here is a clip following on from RtB's video. After EJ fed the chicks she leaves the nest at 11.55. Within a minute Odin arrives. Here is his nestoration and getting the idea to shade the chicks.

Once in this position, he stays there. EJ returns at 12.11, and he lets her preen. She looks damp to me. I think that she has been bathing. At 12.30 finally Odin leaves.

  •

That's not quite the shot I thought I  uploaded, but still it's a slightly unusual view.  It's EJ.

    Ah, screenshotted it:

  • mims

EJ's having a lovely long break. Perhaps she's gone to get a fish herself?

Usually, this only happens after the juveniles have fledged MIMS. However,   :)  EJ always fishes before they fledge but only when they are fully grown and nearing fledge. It's important that the male fulfulls his fishing duties. Hope this helps

  • Good vid MOFFER thanks and 'nice one' SCYLLA - it is  an unusual shot

Thanks Cirrus, I always love to learn, so please don't ever be put off if you need to correct me. :))

  • EJ doesn't seem to know what to do for the best - she's shading the chicks, thinking about sitting on them, sits for a moment, up again.  It's too darn hot! as the song goes ;-)

  • The chicks are getting hungry. I hope that #1 doesn't start on #3. #2 can look after himself.

  • FISH @ 13.33 number 2 fish

  • FISH 13:33

  • 13.33 Odin arrives with FISH, well done Odin

  • Good morning all. How nice to check in this morning and see the kids lining up for a feed with proud Odin standing by. And it seems #3 is somewhere nearer the front line.

  • this crappy picture is such a shame... so difficult to see what's going on

  • I heard EJ from the garden. Brilliant to catch the fish delivery and now see the chicks eat again. they will need the fish to also keep them hydrated in that heat.

  • #3 has got himself in front of #1 this time. Ahh, EJ could see that he was getting squashed and has moved around so he can get out, and there he is bringing up the rear, bless.

  • little one's not getting anything atm
