So lovely to see Monty chilling out in the sunshine
Ah , good. SANDRA PATILY LINDY and BIRDSONG on the job! Many thanks for close up pics. So, dad is definitely still here and waiting for boyo to decide to leave.
Tiger's index threads
Ceulan waiting for dad to bring his fish tea.
If nothing goes right, go left! :-)
TIGER said the other day that Ceulan is too young to leave yet, so still needs Monty to provide his meals
Ceulan had a good flyaround earlier, the cam followed him all around the sky. Pics are not very good though.
Ceulan enjoying his fish supper @8:53pm. Not sure what time he had it, but he seems quite full and has left some. Now he has left the nest.
Dad and Son @9:10pm before the nitecam comes on
Ceulan just flew off the t/post @9:13pm
And now he just flew back @9:17pm
The fish that Ceulan left. Must have been a very big fish!
Has anyone read the Dyfi FB blog?
It says that Monty is building a new nest on the Dyfi, not far from this one!
Is no one here at all? I have been on my own since 4pm:-(
Good night all.

Not a totally new nest. There is a second nest platform at Dyfi (actually on the reserve, I think, unlike the one currently in use which is on the other side of the railway line). The 2nd platform - what they call the "new nest" - was put up over (I think) winter 2010/11. Monty showed some interest in it when he first returned, but when Nora arrived she made it very clear that she preferred the original one, so that is what they are using.
So Monty is keeping his options open by putting in a bit of work on the second site, just in case something goes wrong at his existing nest over the winter. He doesn't know that he has Emyr & Co. keeping an eye on things for him while he's away :D
Hopefully his efforts will make it more attractive to someone next season, though. I don't know (and didn't think to ask when I was there) if Dyfi provide 'starter' nest material or just the bare platforms, but there is a school of thought that passing birds are more likely to take an interest in a nest that already looks used.
Wouldn't it be brilliant if in a year or two we are able to see two pairs of nesting ospreys from the hide at Dyfi?!
