  • Trish2:  I can see John's "Gone Fishing" blog on the regular pagewww.rspb.org.uk/.../default.aspx

Did you try refreshing the blog page on your computer.  Good luck!

  • Just returned from Birthday tea.  Very traditional - tea, toast, steak pie, tray bakes (cakes) and home-made scones with more tea (and two glasses of pinot grigio.  Mum and I always get the giggles and this year it was over her hatred of wrapping gifts.  She bought me a pair of shoes and wrapped each one individually.  That's one way to eke out the agony.  You should see them.  They are sandals with a basketweave wedge heel, snakeskin straps and neon pink trim.  As soon as I opened one, I was in hysterics.  Sooooo eccentric!)  I did receive many lovely gifts from the family including lots of cash so I can treat myself to something nice to go with the eccentric sandals.

Brenda  - thank you for your birthday wishes.  Alan - sorry to hear Lady P has been out of sorts.  Your photos are always a treat. Hope England play well this evening, whatever the result.

  • Justice was done in the end. The Azzurri deserved to win.

  • Emma:    Your Birthday Treat sounded nice.  Glad you had a giggle with the family. Would love to try on those shoes!!  Sorry to hear about your sciatica:  that's rotten.  I know its hard to treat and everyone seems to have a different tale to tell, its just a matter of finding whats best for you, I think.

As Alan has said, the football match England versus Italy is now finally over, and they are still talking on the TV about the result.  We lost with a penalty shoot out after a goal-less game, which is always very unsatisfactory for both sides.  However, justice has been done as Italy deserved to go through.  More nice photos, Alan!

Annette:   Yes, thats Buzz in the living area of the caravan:  the boxes etc. beside him are from our unpacking various things. We have an acquaintance who lives most of the year in hers, but comes back to live in her bungalow when she wants to see old friends.  Brenda:  There are laws against living in one for more than ten months of the year, and most sites only allow access during 8 - 10 months for that reason. If the caravans are accessible for more than that, they then become permanent residences and all sorts of rules apply, including paying a lot more in your Rates!

margo:  Good to hear that you are OK, even if you are a bit damp - we have been so wet here that I noticed my shower cap which hangs on the bathroom wall has not been drying in the 24 hours between use, lately. This never usually happens normally. Our lawn is a soggy mess when I walk onto it to hang out the laundry.  Great that you got your Wimbledon tickets - I shall be looking for you in the crowd when I watch it on TV!!

I enjoyed looking in on Ascot Races:  I don't bet very often at all, but love to see the hats and outfits:  agree that HM the Queen has been looking very smart this year, and how happy she was to win!!

We had a bit of sunshine here today, and my OH got some of the hedges cut but I fell asleep in the armchair after lunch which made me feel better but was rather annoying as I had things to do, including coming on here and catching up.

  • Evening all: Did a lot of work in the front garden today and bleary eyed so will catch up tomorrow. Am going to watch Foyle's War and then fall into bed.

  • A belated Happy Birthday Emma. Hope your sciatica improves soon. It is so easy to slip into bad alignments and so tedious to remedy

Brenda - Pic of Ma'am patting Black Caviar was on our front page this morn. You wrote:- "Peter Moody . . . seems to be rather an aggressive person . . ." It could be one-up-man-ship before the event, but then Aussie's do have a reputation for being rather brash & aggressive.

A dreadful disease has struck our street. It seems to be quite contagious. It's called renovation. Over the last year having watched 3 houses across the road with rubbish skips, workmen & noise, today Next-doors have joined the trend. Such a pity that the old Basket Range stone is being plastered - the modern look is "Tuscan". This a sample of the delicate colours in our local BR stone.

  • Hello.   Happy Monday!   Dull here but dry, sunshine promised in bits later, with small chance of showers.

AQ:   I sometimes think that renovation/extensions are contagious - we seem to get them in clumps appearing along the street!  Lately there have been a lot of new driveways done, of various kinds.  But I noticed that one of our neighbours had one of those which is laid wet and then "imprinted" with a brick design afterwards, now has lots of areas where it is now degrading and falling into crumbs - beware who you have to do the work!  Forgot to say, I laughed a lot at the thought of all of us cramming into the caravan one day - as there are a lot of us now, it would certainly be quite a case of elbowing!!

Had to go back just now to 2 weeks ago to see which pictures I had used then for the Monday Smiles, so I do not duplicate them:  here are this weeks for you, more notices:

~   ~   I love the last one, knowing what cats are like!!

    Have a good day!

  • From Richard's comment on the Blog:

"HEADS-UP: WE ARE HOPING TO RING AND TAG THIS WEEK. SORRY, BUT WE CAN'T BE EXACTLY SURE WHEN. WE'RE WATCHING & WAITING FOR A SUITABLE WEATHER-WINDOW AND MAY PROCEEED AT SHORT NOTICE. SO THIS IS YOUR NOTICE."

I thought I'd post this because some people aren't able to access the blogs and/or the comments (per recent posts on the forum).

    Everyone have a good day!

  • not having a good day today after washing OH's fleece over the weekend took it out and it was dripping wet not spun didn't think any about why went to put washer on this morning and the washer just won't work at all so it going to be a new washer last time it went wrong they said next time it would cost to much to repair,so im having to was every thing by hand as i need stuff and there 's no launerette were we are

  • Oh, ALICAT:    I do sympathise - there's nothing you miss so much when its not working.  Do hope you can get things dry today, too.

  • Lindybird

Oh, ALICAT:    I do sympathise - there's nothing you miss so much when its not working.  Do hope you can get things dry today, too.

thanks Lindybird wringing it out as much i can then having to drip dry it on the line keeping an eye on the weather as i keeps clouding up fingers crossed it won't rain

  • Afternoon all,

Linda : Thanks for the monday smiles.

Alicat : Probably advisable to get a new washing machine. Hope you can get the clothes dry.

Diane : Thanks for the update on the ringing and tagging. I thought it would have to be this week.

Thanks to everyone else for the chat etc.

As this is the first dry day for about a week, managed to get the front and back grass cut and a bit of weeding done. The baskets are so slow this year coming into flower and when they do the flowers are destroyed by the heavy rain. We need a longer dry spell than a couple of days to get them going again. Also managed to get the washing out and dried in record time. Although it is dry there is very little of the sunshine we were promised today and it is still cool for the time of year. Think I will watch some tennis now and relax a bit.

  • washing done just have it to dry now, just triped up on the step leading from the conservortory to the kitchen and knoch the side of my big toe on the storm bar thats embeded in the step it hurs like mad now its gone purple and black

  • ALICAT it probably won't work but try checking the filter in the washing machine.  Mine stopped working when the filter got clogged up from washing new bath mats.

Well I've never been in to football but we decided to watch the match from near the end of normal time last night through extra time and penalties.  I know nothing about it but what a shambles is all I can say.

Off for a walk now.   See you later.

  • Alicat:  Oh dear, you are in the wars again, as my Gran used to say.  Hope its just bruises, and not more painful tomorrow.  Good idea to check the filter as sometimes its just something thats clogged everything up:  it might save you having a visit from the Washing Machine Man and the added expense.

Alan:   My hanging baskets are hung up, but look rather poorly as I have some petunias in them (they are mixed plants) and they just hate being wet through and go all soggy. Lets hope the latest  forecast for a few sunny days now is going to be the right one. Got some geraniums planted into the front pots and now at least the front garden looks fairly respectable - it doesnt get much sun so plants often struggle to be colourful.

Diane:  Thanks for the heads up on the ringing and tagging.

Had a funny incident:  sat down to watch the first instalment of the Wimbledon coverage on TV and the doorbell rang.  Had just eaten my quick lunch of Marmite on toast.  Signed for a parcel and saw the Man looking at my face with interest:  when he had gone, checked myself in the mirror and I had a huge smear of said Marmite on my right cheek!!!!  How embarrassing - I must have looked like a 2 year old  -  "Nothing new there, then"  my OH will say!

Trying to cook dinner and get some photos ready to put on here:  hope I'm not going to make a mess of both tasks whilst multi tasking !!   ;-)
