The new day starts with the chicks having fed well thanks to the fishing skills of EJ and Odin despite the bad weather.
Let's hope today brings equally good fortune.
Well done Badger, on starting the new thread! ;-) Did anyone notice that 'yesterdays' fish #3 was a golden koi carp? EJ is very resourceful when it comes to finding fish in terrible conditions. This carp must have come from someone's fish pond! I do hope it wasn't someone's prize specimen - they can be VERY expensive, and they do get to be really good pets. Mine used to feed from my hand, come whern called and love a tummy rub!
Smiles, Jan.
EJ broods her chicks.....
and it's time for me to head off to my roost.
Take care all. Good night and have a happy Sunday :-)
Hiya Wattle (Jan)...I'll check that one out in the morning. Well spotted. Until later, byeee :-)
Thanks for starting the thread, tBoL :-)
Hi Wattle (Jan). Thanks for pointing out fish #3 was a golden koi carp. Well I suppose the chicks have got to be intruduced to exotic food at some point ;-)
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.

Hi Heron77: There are about 5 sets of circumstances where EJ could have come up with a koi carp. The first is that it could have been released by it's owner to a stream when it grew too big for its original home. In this case, EJ did the wild fish a service, as a carp will out-eat any wild native fish!!!! The second is that it has been washed out of its own home pond by recent floods/heavy rains - a real possibility, given the weather conditions. Again, EJ would have done the wild fish a favour. The third is that EJ actually went fishing in the fish pond of a public gardens or similar somewhere in the area. Risky for EJ, but unlikely to reeally upset anyone. The fourth, that EJ nicked it from a private fish pond, where it had probably been a pet of many years standing, going by its size. In this case the owner may well be grieving for it. The fifth is that it came from some local fish fancier's private collection. Given that the fish was not purely golden, but had asymetrical black markings scattered on it, I don't think it came from a collection. A breeding size pure golden Koi of this size could be worth $1,000s!
I'm sure the koi carp was either realeased by it's owner, or washed out of its pond by the heavy rain, and ended up in the wild. In which case EJ certainly did the native wild fish a favour. Can't have them getting no food, and the Ospreys end up with meagre rations. I think anyone who owned a fish as valuable as a golden koi, would ensure it was guarded against predation.
Sounds and looks a rather wet night on the nest. EJ's awake at the moment and looks kinda fed up.
Heading off to roost now.
Happy watching everyone :-)
Paul.

No! I thought that carp were "fatter" than that. I would have called it a big brown trout :-/ It was a very impressive fish!

Goodnight, HERON, thanks for everything :-) I have been embroiled again, it's very serious this time :-( Must try to be awake in Dell's office hours tomorrow.
Very quiet on the nest (eek! I have had my sound off for ages). I was going to say there's no rain :-/ It's raining quite heavily, I'd say, but there's quite a lot of crackling mixed in. It's getting lighter
Daycam on.
Can't see the chicks, EJ has them covered, she has her back to us.
EJ has flown.
Chicks chittering, EJ is back, thinking about trying to shelter them.
