  • Good afternoon all have been keeping up to date even though I haven't been posting. Thank you Diane for the card my birthday is past but it is really uplifting to think that the people on this blog are as thoughtful as they are. I have been a little under the weather as I pulled out a hair and a boil appeared and I thought wait till it comes to a head and the burst it and everything will be ok but there was an infection got in and I eventually went to the doctors who said I would need at least 2 weeks of antibiotics for it to clear up so that is another four tablets to add to my daily uptake.  I was lucky when I phoned the doctors because I was told if I could get to the surgery within an hour the doctor would see me or I would have to wait two days I got there within an hour.

The weather here today is wet and our esplanade is flooded.  Diesel has been to get his haircut today and normally we use the esplanade so we used it going but coming back we went a different way and in another road we had to go there was water coming up from a hole in the middle of the road. I was lucky I cut my grass yesterday .

I hope everyone keeps well and those with problems get them rectified to their satisfaction.

  • Sounds nasty GEORGE  hope you are better soon.  Like you OH cut the side grass and 1/2 of the hedge. He certainly couldn't have done so today.

Suppose most of you have heard that BLUE 44 has not returned to the nest since fledging on Monday lunchtime. They have had search parties out to try and find him and they are still out at the moment. Think I am right that they had info from the tracker this am showing that he is moving so cross fingers he will return before long. It seems that the parents are not showing signs of distress so that too is a good thing.

  • It turns out that friends ex husband is one of two Brits who are the first ever to reach the Nanga Parbat summit from the Mazeno Ridge side. The ridge is 10ks described as dangerous and requires the climbing of 8 x 7000mtr summits!!!! What an acheivement. Now all they have to do is get down!!!!!

  • I'm back and in fact have been desperately throwing my sheets etc. on the washing line, as the Bright Thing called The Sun is out here this afternoon! Had a very pleasant lunch with Friend and another friend, also Friends OH who is quite happy entertaining several ladies at once, all talking!  We had a summery repast of cold meats, hams, and salads with artichokes and warm walnut bread - Yum!   Then strawberries and shortcake for pud with a very welcome cuppa, as I had been dashing about getting my tooth fixed again, collecting prescriptions, shopping for bread etc.etc.  Took lots of pics of Lottie the Puppy but she is very lively, and when not asleep in a sort of heap of contorted legs under the table, is never still for a minute.  Will post some of them tomorrow. (but only some, as lots of them are literally, a blur....)

dibnlib:   I keep looking in on the LotL threads to see if there is news - if the parents are not bothered by his absence then maybe they are feeding him elsewhere.  My fingers are crossed for him, too.

george:   Nice to hear from you:  Hope Diesel is ok and you dont get any more wet feet after today, when its supposed to be clearing up at last.

  • I like to look at the Estonian osprey nest occasionally. I thought I'd post this capture so you folks can remember what sunshine looks like. :-)))

  • Thanks Diane - what a lovely osp picture.

  • dibnlib -  Thats amazing!!

  • Just read the LoTL blog update.  There are signs of fish being eaten in the area where the tracker indicates the chick has been.  Now hopes that parents are feeding him.  What a worry for staff and volunteers.

Annette Sad news of your grand-daughter's marriage break-up.  It's always worse when there is a child involved.

Trish2 Trust the KC to make a mistake!  Still, it gives you more time to work with Mia in 'competition mode'.

Have enjoyed reading about all the lovely food most of you seem to find.  Mine is very boring in comparison.

    Hi George

Just wanted to say I really like your avatar.  I'm very pleased you got to the doctor's in time, as well!

  • So our osps are now teenagers! Causing worry to parents & adopted parents.

I'm having trouble with internet speed. He-Who-Knows-Everything has no idea what's wrong. <sigh> It takes so long I give up. I'm off to Dau & LittleMiss today, armed with pre-cooked lunch. Hope I don't catch any of their germs. Hope to comment sometime.

  • Evening all: Have now caught up with pix, posts, smiles and jokes.Won't even try to respond to everyone, but thanks especially for everyone's good wishes re family situation; we're taking one day at a time right now.

Lindybird:  I bought my daughter one of those digital photo frames last Christmas - I didn't think I'd ever want one, but now I'm not so sure.

Emma: Was on the pier a while back and saw some French folks on a bunch of Harley's; we assumed they'd rented them and were touring.

    GeorgeG: Happy Belated Birthday.

I'm off to bed; take care everyone.

  • Morning, All.  Drizzle here again, and grey leaden skies.  The folks at the Tatton Park Flower Show will be cursing after all their hard work to put on such wonderful displays.  We have tickets to go on Friday, and have some friends calling in this afternoon who are going there today - they will need their gumboots and brollies.

AQ:    Do hope as you say, that you don't catch any of the dreaded germs.  Good of you to pitch in and help them out.  When my children were ill, my Mother used to ring up and say   "I don't want your Father to catch it"  and I battled on alone.

Annette:   Thinking of you and your family.

  • Good morning all just to let you know I am OK but apart from a quick look round the osprey nests do not have much time as I am helping my sister out as she is not very mobile after her knee op.  Take laptop with me to keep up with osprey happenings but that is about it.  She should be a little more mobile after this week so will get back to normal then.  Can see some of you have been unwell so hope you feel better soon and was sad to read Annette's  post about her grand-daughter.  Take care all and all being well will be back properly next week.

  • Thursday already – and I’ve only just got used to this week having started!  Dry today, some sunshine, some cloud.  It was very wet before we went to Dumfries last night, but dry on both journeys, and not a lot of surface water on the roads.  The concert was excellent – part of Feis Rois from the north – did you see them at Eden Court, Dibnlib?  Five excellent young musicians in their own right, but brilliant in ensembles of various combinations.  Not all the songs were in Gaelic, and not all old, but the modern ones were in Scottish Traditional style.  There were also instrumental pieces, mouth music, a Bagpipe solo and even step dancing by one of the singer/violinists in one set!

Dibnlib – yes, the Mesembryanthemums were closed when Juvie was here, but they opened when the sun shone, and are wide-open again today – but I really ought to get out there and remove some dead flowers!  Your Wednesday lunch sounds good – must try that combination!

Trish – I have noted your real birthday - same day as our Son in Law!

George – pleased you got to the Doctor with the boil, but although anti-biotics heal, they don’t make you feel better at the time!  Sorry about the depth of water where you are – glad you already got the grass cut.

Linda – yesterday seems to have been the day for interesting lunches!  I hope weather down your way brightens up for you at Tatton tomorrow.

Diane – that sunshine capture from Estonian webcam is lovely!  Reminds me of old sepia photos.

AQ – sorry about internet speed – and demands of family.  Take care!

Margo – good of you to help Sister after the op – do you have to get to her house by bus?  I hope her recovery is going well.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
