This Topic has been set up to follow the Autumn 2011 migration and wintering of satellite tracked ospreys, excluding Tore, Bynack and Rothes from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread:
The predecessor to this topic is Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non LG) March-August 2011
Other Ospreys from the UK
UK Organisations known to be currently tracking ospreys, and the birds involved, are as follows:
Roy Dennis, Highland Foundation for Wildlife – Scotland
Beatrice Adult female, hatched 2000, tagged 2008, ring Green 5B. On all of her tracked migrations, she has taken a stopover on the River Adour, near Dax in the Landes department of SW France. She winters in southern Spain, dividing her time between the Bay of Gibraltar, and the Guadiaro river to the north east. In 2011, Beatrice moved back to her old nest in West Moray, and raised 2 chicks with a new mate.
Red 8T Adult male, hatched 2001, tagged 2009, ring Red 8T. He nests in Strathspey, and is often seen at the Rothiemurchus fishery. His wintering site is on the Casamanche River near Ziguinchor, southern Senegal. In summer 2011 his nest failed.
Morven Adult female, hatched 2003, tagged 2008, ring White PE. Morven’s nest site is near Forres, Moray; she winters on the desert coast of Mauritania, north of the capital Nouakchott. Her transmitter has been faulty for a long time, and only gives occasional signals. In 2011 she raised 3 chicks with a new mate.
Rothiemurchus Sub-adult male, ring Blue AE. Hatched in 2009 on Rothiemurchus Estate, near Aviemore, Highland. He spent 2 winters and a summer on the Senegal/Gambia border. In summer 2011, he returned to Britain for the first time and has been touring Scotland and Northern England.
Ozwold
Juvenile male, ring blue 97, hatched 2011 near Nairn. The tracking of Ozwold is sponsored by the publishers of the children’s book “Sky Hawk” by Gill Lewis, who will also be following his migration on her own blog.
Joe
"Joe is a male chick, one of a brood of three, at the most northerly nest in Scotland near Thurso in Caithness. More details to follow"
And ospreys no longer in contact......
Spey This one year old was spending the summer in Guinea-Bissau, but the signal from his transmitter deteriorated from mid June and then failed completely, reasons unknown.
Nimrod Is alive and well and has been spending the summer in Moray, but his transmitter has broken.
Rutland Water Osprey Project
Rutland Water tagged two of their adult male ospreys this summer, in an effort to find out why 3 male ospreys have disappeared around Rutland in 2010 and 2011. They will now be following their migrations for the first time.
Orange 09 Adult male, hatched in 1998 in Scotland and translocated to Rutland Water. He has never bred, but paired with female 5N(04) this summer at Site N, after the disappearance of her mate 08(97).
Blue AW - formerly Maroon AA (06) Adult male, hatched at Rutland Water in 2006, parents 03(97) and 05(00). This makes him a brother of the Manton Bay male 5R and Nora, the female at Dyfi. He has been breeding since 2009.

There was an earlier Rutland Water project, tracking translocated juveniles, from 1999-2002 - here's the link to all the records:

Erika
Adult female, age unknown, tagged 2007, ring Black 85. Erika’s nest site is in Virumaa county, north eastern Estonia. She travels via the Eastern Mediterranean and the Nile and winters in Sudan on the the Ar-Rahadi river, a tributary of the Blue Nile. I believe she is the longest-tracked osprey.
Finnish Museum of Natural History, University of Helsinki
Jukka
Adult male, ringed & tagged 2009, ring Red PS. Jukka nests in Pälkäne, southern Finland, and winters at the Lagdo Reservoir, Cameroon.
Eikka
Adult male, ringed and tagged 2011, ring Red FA.

Current project tracking two ospreys on this map:
To switch between them, click on the down arrow in the box labelled “Visa” and hit the “Uppdatera” key. I haven’t been able to find any further details about these birds on the site (lack of Swedish is a bit of an obstacle), but we have established they are one-year olds. 19153 has settled in the Saloum Delta in Senegal, and 49460 close to Lac de Buyo in the Ivory Coast.
And in North America
Rob Bierregaard, University of North Carolina, USA

Previously tracked ospreys
Sandford from Westport River, Massachusetts, winters on Andros Island, Bahamas. Reports also on Westport Ospreys site.
Sr. Bones from Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, winters in the Colombian Andes.
North Fork Bob from Long Island, winters on an Amazon tributary in Venezuela.
Buck hatched in South Carolina in 2009 and spent 18 months on Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela. He has returned to the Eastern US this summer and toured a large area.
Thatch and Belle, immature birds hatched in 2010, have both settled in the Brazilian Amazon and are likely to stay there till spring 2012.
New ospreys
Katbird (Martha's Vineyard adult male)
Henrietta (Martha's Vineyard juvenile)
Snowy (Martha's Vineyard juvenile)
Saco (New Hampshire juvenile female) – also tracked on Squam Lakes project site. Saco’s brother Pemi did not survive the fledging period.
Friends of the Osprey, Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Canada
Tracking
54706 is an adult female who in 2010-11 completed the longest migration of all the tracked ospreys, between Kawartha Lakes and the far south of the Amazon basin in Brazil.
Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, USA
72844 is a male adult tagged at Grand Teton in 2010, who follows an unusual easterly migration route to a wintering site on the south coast of Cuba.
101394 also an adult male nesting in Grand Teton NP, wintered in 2010-11 near the Gulf coast of Mexico.
65851 a 2010 chick of 101394, seemed to have settled in Texas, on a river north of San Antonio, but the transmitter signal has been lost and the team are getting someone to investigate on the ground.
Thanks Sue C we are going to have a busy fall and winter. I was talking to Kenny at LG Capercaillie watch who gets involved with ringing in strathspey and baddenoch told me that Roy either tried to recapture or wanted to recapture Nimrod and wanted to fit a new antenae. I think it was unsuccessful.
Thanks Sue, you have done an excellent job once again. There is a new male osprey with antennae in Finland. Adult male, Eikka. He got his transmitter this July at his nesting area at Paltamo (NE Finland). Didn't find any data in English ‘bout him yet, sorry.
auntie from finland
Thank you so much Sue. As a "newbie" to osprey tracking (I have been following LG, LotL and Hailuoto on the cams only since 2010), this is a really really good overview for me! Much appreciated!
Cats and women will do as they please. Dogs and men should relax and get used to it.
Thanks Auntie. Another one to follow but not to be confused with Erika from Estonia.
Beatrice reaches Northumberland
Thanks for the comments everyone. Auntie, do you know if Eikka will be tracked on the same site as Jukka?
Sue C Beatrice reaches Northumberland Thanks for the comments everyone. Auntie, do you know if Eikka will be tracked on the same site as Jukka?
Sue, don't know yet (if Eikka will be tracked at the same site as Jukka) but I will probably see some people who will know next Friday and shall ask
