Have been off line for 10 days and am amazed to see a sighting in Galway - thats way off track? Unless a bird was completely blown off course enroute back to Scotland.

There have also been sightings in Co Donegal and Co Down. Some of the birds leaving northern Spain might well come ashore in Ireland.
If you remember Joe took the Irish route last autumn.
That was indeed sad news of Joe to be eaten by some predator.
I remember Joe well Tiger - he roosted about 25 to 30 miles away from where I live even if that. And I was very upset by his demise. But this sighting is in the West of Ireland - seems well off route.

I spoke to Tim when I saw the report on the SoS site and he has been in touch with the photographer who sent him a copy of the photo but even with enhancement the leg ring cannot be read. I have contacted two other people who also took photos in the hope that perhaps one of them might have caught it.
