DAILY UPDATE (LG nest) Thursday 29th March 2012.

Well what a day yestarday was! New guy in town and EJ accepts him.  So what will the new day bring?  Will Odin break his early April habit and arrive back early to see Blue XD off or will EJ and XD continue to build their union?  Only time will tell.

Wednesday was such an exciting day. I was away from my own computer for a large part of the day. I did manage to bring up the site on a public computer and realised that exciting things were happening. However I did not have my password with me. However I did manage to remember it and make a few comments.

Then tonight the origins of  Blue/White XD are something of a mystery. As explained in other posts if he is Green J's long term partner then he should be S18 but that does not seem to fit.

I guess we may find out today.

Tiger.  The history of Blue XD is fascinating and I'm sure we'll find out more.  Perhaps he lost his original ring and was re-ringed as an adult.  It'll be interesting to see what happens in the coming days. :-)

Chloe.  My brain is still revving away after yestarday's events.  Of course if anybody even tries to offer a cure for my Ospreyitis.  I shall bravely fight them off ;-)

Paul.  Green J  was caught three times.In 1999 to attach a transmitter, in 2000 to replace the transmitter and  again later in order to remove the transmitter.

Now  S18 was tracked in 2000 and 2001 but nothing was said about catching him a second time.

In 2,000 transmitters were battery powered and  lasted less than a year usually. Yet S18 was tracked through two migrations.

Tiger.  Thanks for letting me know.  A very interesting story indeed and if there is no record of S18 (I assume that's his tramsmitter number) being caught for a second time, then the evidence (at this moment) points out that S18 was one of the very first solar transmitters.

That is certainly a possibility. For years I felt sure S18 had perished. Yet I was then surprised to find that he had not!

Interestingly T04  the son of S18 and S06 did carry a solar powered transmitter.

The whole thing is utterly fascinating, Tiger.  For me one of the many great things about Ospreys is that we should never second guess them.  I was very close to posting "Odin's back!" today but was stopped by a blue ring and a browner chest.  Can't wait to see what more info we get later today.

Thanks for the new thread, Heron.  Was very out-of-sorts yesterday, MOFFER did such a wonderful job keeping everyone "in the picture".  Am about to go thru my own archive of The Traumatic 28th, will post anything that seems to add to what's already been shown.
