Maybe a daft question, but I wonder who makes and distributes the darvic rings, and how that is organised/ financed? If there is a cost to the ringing groups, I suppose it would make sense for them to use up their stocks of the old-style rings before investing in the new ones.
Thanks Alan - shambles indeed! What a pity.
I am on my way out but if you have a look at the BTO site you may be able to find out some more about ringing:
some serious wing excersing by Caledonia, oh I hope she goes before Monday :)
Odin is on form today another fish and is it my imagination as they look a lot bigger. Maybe better weather, better fishing :)
14.48 Fish! Another really good size fish from Odin .
Don't know if any one picked this up earlier but here are some pics of yesterday
What beautiful birds they are close up
Here is a pic of Alba
All on the blog
Hi sugar, the one of Cally is magnificant. It would have been nice if they had posted one of Alba too.
Edit: Just read your 2nd post Sugar, that is new up since I last looked. It's magnificant too!!
Both Cally and Alba are still resting whilst EJ just stands hanging on to the newly delivered fish. No-one is interested in eating a present--it could be that the intruder is still around as the youngsters are laid out flat and EJ is chirping away at something but she doesn't look too worried.
Yes, Sugar, thank you,--great pictures of the birds.
Nice to see dry weather at LG, even if it is a touch breezy.
Milly, I like watching them when it is a touch breezy - just their feathers moving.
When I first switch on the webcam now, I have to look twice - they are about as big as EJ now.
Yes, Karen and when you think about the short time it took for those feathers to grow so beautifully, it just defies belief!
EJ has now persuaded Alba that perhaps she can manage to eat a little more.!!
I'm laughing here as I'm sure Alba is lying down and EJ is stuffing the food into her!!
