It was another tens day at the nest on Friday. However EJ decided to go fishing and brought in two very large fish. This has transformed the food situation in the nest for now.
It will be interesting to see what Saturday brings. Hopefully more large fish.
All quiet and peaceful on the nest.
I suppose the big question is "What prmpted EJ to go fishing?" Was it the paucity of fish? Or was it just the right time?
Yes EJ's bumper catches certainly turned things around and good to know that #3 sleeps on a full crop tonight.
I wouldn't argue against it being 'just the right time' but I definitely think that paucity of fish had a lot to do with it. Certainly not enough to go round.
Hi Tiger... yes more fish from both Odin & EJ will help stop the aggresion on the nest...
Thanks for starting the new DU, TIGER :-)
We mustn't ask for too much, but Odin and EJ delivering almost simultaneously, like yesterday, should surely see our vulnerable little #3 getting a good feed at least once a day :-)
Goodnight for now, TIGER, CHLOE AND JAGGY :-)
Thanks for starting today's DU, Tiger. Hi Chloe :-) Hi Black Jag :-) Goodnight, Scylla. Have a peaceful roost :-)
EJ looks quite sleepy at the moment. She deserves a good rest because she puts in an amazing amount of work to make sure everything goes well on that nest.
EJ The Phenomenal, catcher of MASSIVE fish, and all round super mum, is sleeping at the moment.
Hi Heron just off now, have a good night :)
Goodnight, Chloe. Have a peaceful roost :-)
EJ flew off for a quick break and then quickly returned to shouting youngsters. She's got them fairly settled now.
EJ now sleeping again with her head tucked between her wings.
Heading off to roost soon. Happy watching everyone :-)
Look, a falling star! ... oh, no, sorry, it is a laser fired by a chick :-p
Good night Paul
Falling star indeed ;-D Hi Noc :-) One chick restless, another laser just left the nest.
EJ just flew off.
