  • THIS IS OG HAVING TO USE EAGLE-EYE’S PC AGAIN – MINE HAS NO INTERNET CONNECTION ONCE MORE!  I probably can’t say much because I find this “ergonomic” keyboard so painful to use!  I can only communicate this way, no Facebook or Email, because of the way his system is set up.  I think this may be when I have to give in and replace my beloved ancient machine! … Ah, he’s just offered to swap the keyboards for me!

    Hey. This is better!

I had really hoped to find news from Diane this morning; I do hope she is good after her weekend adventure!

Annette – what a lovely Plumeria picture for Diane!  Do you have it growing outside or indoors where you are?  And AQ – one of her favourite Ducks too!

Cirrus – good to see you  - I hope all is well with you.  Really enjoyed the laugh, thanks!

Linda – pretty murky here too – but I think the drizzle has stopped and (shh) I just spotted two little patches of blue sky!

Brenda - sorry your plans have to change - I think I got confused, because I thought you were already at Brother's house over the weekend!

Hopefully back later, and if anyone hears from Diane, please post here!

  • Hi, everyone!

Thank you all so much for the birthday cards and wishes. I appreciate them very much.

AQ: Nothing better than a duck pic! It's wonderful!
Cirrus: So nice to see you here!
Annette: Plumeria is one of my favorite flowers. They're just so perfect. Beautiful!
bjane: Lovely to hear from you, but I'm so very sorry that your life is so demanding. I'm glad that this thread gives you pleasure. I'm sending good energy your way!
Brenda: Thanks for our good wishes.
Lindy: Wonderful birthday card. It made me laugh!
OG: I loved that hawk. So special to me!

Back later to catch up and comment on the great photos posted since I left. I had a great time in the forest.

  • Oh, no! OG! No internet! I hope you get the problem fixed soon!!!

  • Good morning all.  Dry here at present but grey.  Showers forecast for later.

Diane Belated birthday greetings.  I do hope your trip to the forest has refreshed you.

bjane You have all my sympathy.  My OH is fairly incapacitated, though can sometimes get himself the few steps to the bathroom.  I know how difficult it is being 'on duty' 24 hours a day if you don't have help.  We have carers who get OH washed and dressed in the morning but that's it.  You must try to ensure you get some 'me time'.  You and your OH will be in my prayers too.

  • Diane - So glad you posted and that you had a great time  ;-)

  • Good morning all just a quick post from me.  I hope you are all well.  Unfortunately I have been rather poorly since last Friday and have been in bed.  Some ort of virus I thnk and coupled with the extreme heat have felt simply dreadful. Wanted to find out whether our osprey family had left and it appears they have so my last sight of them all was last Thursday.  When I feel better will try and read through all I have missed but but back off to bed now as I have a thumping headache, something I never usually suffer from.  Take care all and many apologies for not replying to posts.

  • I'm back again - been doing houseworky things and been interrupted by my OH who was supposed to be out golfing but his partner cancelled, so he is finding things to do around the house but getting under my feet doing them!!

Brenda:   Sorry to hear that your plans have been changed by a sudden phone call from your brother - hope its not bad news of some kind.

OG:  Computer/internet problems -   urgh!  How annoying for you.  Hope it can be sorted.  Its still very grey here, with dark and grey clouds scudding along, but thankfully is not raining now.  Nor is it very cold, particularly:   strange weather we are having.

Annette:   What a lovely pic of the Plumeria - I can smell it, nearly!

Diane:  Glad to hear you enjoyed your time in the forest:  hope you feel better for having a break and a think.

Cirrus:   Thanks for the link to a good laugh!  Yes, I know the pics of the willow animals are a bit unclear:  I think the big one is supposed to be a lamb and yes, the other one is a peacock!

margo:   Just seen that you have posted whilst I have been rabbiting on -  Oh Dear, so sorry to see that you have been/are still poorly with a virus or something. Do Take Care of Yourself and rest.  At least its now a lot cooler all over UK.

  • My sympathy and get well thoughts, Margo and indeed anyone else who is under the weather. I have been trying to keep up to date but not very successfully, sorry to say. BJane - I have only just read back, my thoughts are with you. Can't promise prayers since I am a bit of an atheist  - sorry to any one here who might be offended.

    Best wishes to all -

  • Here are this week's Monday Smiles - sorry its a little late today.  These are some more of the 'Stupid' Quotes.

''There is nothing so stupid as the educated man if you get him off the thing he was educated in''   - Will Rogers.

"It is so pleasant to come across people more stupid than ourselves.  We love them at once for being so."   - Jerome K Jerome.

"The only thing that ever consoles a man for the stupid things he does is the praise he always gives himself for doing them"   - Oscar Wilde.

"Only in Britain could it be thought a defect to be 'too clever by half'   The probability is that too many people are too stupid by threequarters"   - John Major.

"When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty."  - George Bernard Shaw.

"A hat should be taken off when you greet a lady, and left off for the rest of your life.  Nothing looks more stupid than a hat"   -  P J O'Rourke.

"The two most common elements in the Universe are Hydrogen and stupidity"  -  Harlan Ellison.

"You can swim all day in the Sea of Knowledge and still come out completely dry.  Most people do"  - Norman Juster.

"Artificial Intelligence is no match for natural stupidity"    - Unknown.

  • Busy morning but did want to send Huge Hugs to bjane.

    Back later.

  • Evening all,

Diane : Belated birthday wishes and I hope you enjoyed your camping trip to the woods. It is good to be alone and at one with nature sometimes. It puts everything else into perspective.

Brenda : Sorry about the traffic chaos, must have been annoying not getting out and about.

OG : Glad you did not mention the Dundee result.

Bjane : I am very sorry to hear about your OH. My thoughts are with you.

Annette : Interesting that the flower you posted is from Hawaii. It was actually hotter than Hawaii here yesterday.

Cirrus : Thanks for the diving caption. LOL

Linda : Thanks for the monday smiles.

Margo : Sorry you have had a virus over the weekend. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks to everyone else for the chat etc.

Not a lot to report today. This morning we did some shopping but not food shopping. In the afternoon did some gardening. It was not as hot today but temp still got up to 24.5c and is currently 21.5c. Still quite humid but not nearly as bad as yesterday. Expected to become cooler and fresher as the week goes on.

  • Hello!  I am me again!  OH has set me up as a person on his PC for the time being!  This means I can also access FB and limited Email.

Margo – sorry about the virus – I hope you feel better soon.

Linda – day came out quite nice this afternoon, and still warm.  Haven’t seen tomorrow’s forecast yet, but Dragonfly ID day has been set provisionally for Thursday, to be confirmed Wednesday!  Thanks for quotes – the last three are my favourites.

Heather – you don’t say how you and OH are progressing – I hope you are recovered by now.

Alan – we shall have to tackle more gardening soon, but I need to send OH shopping tomorrow morning.  We did pick Courgettes, Tomatoes and Blueberries this evening – including some to freeze, so I shall be busy preparing them in the morning.

Will try not to fall out while using just the one computer!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG - OH's wrist is still tender when the wrist support is off. My back is still giving problems but have got a better back support now! Courtesy of Boots. It is an old problem for me - a lot of retired nurses of my age have back problems, we didn't have hoists etc to help us in the olden days!!!!  Every now and then it flares up. Usually my own fault :-(((

I was tempted to ask if your router was at fault but realised that Eagle-Eye has internet connection. We have two computers but have had to fall back on the old router as when we are both connected to the wireless router the Internet goes down from time to time.

  • EVening all:

bjane: So very sorry to hear that your OH is failing. Is he at home or in a nursing facility? Do hope you're getting some rest.

Lindybird: Love that twiggy horse from the garden show; looks very  low maintenance from garden and horse standpoints. Love the Will Rogers quote; also Unknown's "Artificial intelligence....."

OG: The plumeria is one of three quite large plants - white, pale pink, and the dark pink one - that we have in pots on the patio in full sun (they need regular watering). Did end up in the hammock the other afternoon - sooooo relaxing. Got the small ladder out and made a futile swipe at some oranges, but couldn't reach them easily so had OH put out the big ladder, which is still sitting up against the tree.....it's been pretty warm here and trying to snag oranges with the blinding sun in your eyes is not fun, or easy.  I'm waiting for a cloudy cool morning....  Interesting photos of period homes. My mother used to hang the laundry in the scullery to dry during the winter on one of those rack things on a pulley. Oh very interesting about "galena"!  We have a town in Illinois called Galena and I just read on Wikipedia that "Native Americans...mined the ore in Galena for use in body painting. In the 1690s French trappers discovered the area and began mining lead." Hope your internet connection gets sorted soon.

Brenda: Road fiasco sounds typical; hope that truck extricated itself without taking out any hedges.

Margo: As my old doc used to say about viruses: Rest and force fluids!

Cirrus: Thanks for the laugh - that's a hoot!

Diane: Hope you're planning more trips to the forest.

    patriciat: Good to see you.

Heather: Take care of that back; make OH lift things with his good wrist!

Alan: Have been watching the UK temps; it's been hotter there than here too.

Book Club at my house tonight so an easy dinner for OH who'll go hide in "my" room.  Take care all.

  • Margo: I hope you feel better very soon. Hope it's a short-lived virus!

Heather: I hope your back is improving with better support. I can't even imagine the back damage nurses must endure. I know I still have back problems from caregiving. I'm sending you healing energy right now.

Patricia: Thanks for your good wishes. I'm sending you good energy today. Take care of yourself.

Lindy: I loved the new flower show pics. That willow horse is fabulous. I also loved the rocket garden. Great concept!

OG: Thanks so much for the photos of Wanlockhead. I was very interested in the story and pics of the lead mining community. The lives of our ancestors were so demanding and full of suffering. I have so much respect for the working people of that early time. Makes me weep for the deprivation they endured.
