Osprey in Norfolk

Hi All

Alan (Doggie) contacted you yesterday about my shots of Osprey.

I've just spent 3 weeks + another 3 hours "numb-bum wait" in Tower Hide at Strumpshaw Fen to get this bird in my viewfinder. It paid off at last. This is the best "enhanced shot" I can give you at present of the bird's rings and markings.

TAGS: Looks like blue on left leg and possibly a Yellow/Gold (or even White with yellow edges?) one on right? Blue tag looks like it could be "UM" or "HM"?

Does anyone have a clue as to who (name and origin) it might be? I have contacted Ron at Osprey site; according to his web-site info it may well be a Scottish bird.

S/he was not having much luck fishing at Strumpshaw Fen's Tower Hide lake as at one time the resident Marsh Harrier chases it and made it loose it's catch! Later, as I was taking these shots, it came closer to hide (still about 250 yards away unfortunately) and scared off all the ducks. The Osprey kept trying to land on a fish but kept missing and at one time was completely dunked in the muddy waters; looking rather bemused at it had no lunch to claim for it's efforts. This happened about 3 times and eventually was chased away by a Crow.

The Osprey has had much success there but just this day seemed a little trying for it. I'll try again on Monday to see if I can get some closer shots.
