We've had some great bird and wildlife sightings during September so far. Here are a few of the highlights going back in time...:

17th Sept: Male hen harrier quatering over the meadow around 10.30am before heading towards Castle Semple Loch

15th Sept: 'Ringtail' hen harrier (juvenile bird or possible female) flying over the Barr Loch during the morning

14th Sept: Whinchat seen on and around the Aird Meadow for most of the days, great views of it sitting on hogweed plants

13th Sept: Cracking views of an otter fishing in the Aird Meadow loch, and volunteer Liam spied gadwall, marsh harrier and water rail on the Barr Loch

8th Sept: Barn owl seen by Allan on his way home after the Sunset Stroll

Other highlights have included greenshank, kingfisher, jay (first for the reserve in 2011), linnet, dipper, sparrowhawk, osprey and the last of the swallows and martins have been passing over on their way back to African shores.
