We've been really lucky at Mersehead this week with glorious sunny weather! Anyone could be fooled into thinking spring has sprung early except for the slight nip in the air! The last couple of days has seen some amazing goose activity, with quite literally thousands flying around the reserve looking for the best place to settle for a good feed! Most are favouring the merse at the moment with a good number also choosing to feed in the fields on the way onto the reserve, always a nice greeting for visitors!!
The feeders have been really busy at the back of the Visitor Centre too, with up to 5 Tree Sparrows seen today as well as 20+ Chaffinch, 10+ Greenfinch and Yellowhammer. We even spotted a Jack Snipe yesterday right by the feeding station in a clump of rushes.
