We hosted the launch of an excellent new book at Minsmere today. Suffolk's Wildlife Coast is a guide to the RSPB nature reserves on the Suffolkc oast, including details of history, management, wildlfie and seasonal highlights.
This lovely guide is full of fantastic photos, many by Minsmere's volunteer photographer Jon Evans, which will inspire any reader to plan their next visit to one of the reserves.
Suffolk's Wildlife Coast is written and produced by the RSPB Woodbridge local group. It's a fully updated edition of their 2004 book, Spread Your Wings, with new chapters for Snape and about climate change - the latter written by RSPB Regional Director, Paul Forecast. All other chapters have been completely re-written to reflect the changes of the last ten years.
The book was launched at a special event in the Discovery Centre this morning, with presentations by Paul Forecast, RSPB Suffolk Manager Ben McFarland and Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB Manager Nick Collinson. Representatives from the Woodridge group, some of their funders, and other local conservation organisations then enjoyed a lovely buffet lunch and a short tour of our new family areas.
If you'd like to buy a copy - and I heartily recommend it - Suffolk's Wildlife Coast is available from Minsmere for £7.50, selected local retail outlets, or direct from the local group. Please call Malcolm Key on 01394 723155 for details. (please note, P&P will be payable if Malcolm needs to post copies)
