Well I decided to brave the rain on Friday, stayed in Island Mere hide all morning from 0800hrs, nearly had the hide to myself apart from a couple of hardy birders. I nearly decided to leave at 1300hrs, but the sun started to shine and then to my great surprise a Bittern suddenly flew and landed on top of the reeds right beside the hide I AM SO GLAD I STAYED!!!!
I then left the hide for about 1 hour and then return, after about 10 minutes he appeared again and flying right past the front of the hide, this time with sun shining right on to him, giving me these shots!

Wow........what fantastic pictures! You can pat yourself on the back for staying around to take those. Perhaps it was observing you and thought you'd really earned a show. Well done, I'm so pleased for you.
