Hands up who thinks orchids are rare and exotic plants that grow exclusively in far off rain forests and mountains shrouded in mist. Well I have to be honest, I did until I started working at Newport Wetlands! The truth is that Britain is home to over 50 orchid species and the Newport Wetlands is lucky enough to support six of these. These include the pyramidal orchid, the southern marsh and the common spotted amongst others. If you’re very lucky you may see the elusive bee orchid!
