Down the Wetlands last week and spotted this Brown Hare in a field. It was quite a distance away so pic not great...
Continued watching for 10 mins of so and then a female pheasant appeared...
I watched as the hare challenged the pheasant - no contest I thought. However the bird stood its ground and the hare backed off and ran away. It was a wonderful experience to watch.
Interesting information Dai, I've seen lots of Rabbit around by the Power station but not seen any Hares there, a bit like my head ;)
And there's nothing wrong with the shots, they're great :)
Best regardsNigel

Just joined the group to say WOW as I love hares! This one seems to have quite a white face!

It was in a field on the opposite side of the Uskmouth site Nigel, down from the pub - the Waterloo I think. I have stopped every time since but not had a repeat showing. I will though keep watching and hoping!
Ah!, will keep an eye out, that's quite near GWT's Solutia Reserve at Great Traston Meadows, may be worth while checking out that site.
Great shots and observations Dai, looks like there's at least one other person who keeps the camera handy and their eyes open when driving to and from Uskmouth.
I talked to a couple heading up from Salt Marsh Lane a couple of weeks ago who had seen two hares and some weasel kittens in the field off there but so far I haven't seen them!
Thanks Nigel and John. Was delighted to see one down there as I heard they were about.
Thanks too marJus - I think though your pics are just slightly better than mine:-) !
