My brother is camping down at Oxwich Bay. Whilst I was on my jolly in the North Sea, one of the RSPB bods told me about the new hide down there. I say new, it's been there about 18 months apparently.
We went and visited my bro yesterday and had a wander around the nature reserve. It's a stunner!
Sand dunes and salt marshes with some fresh water pools as well!
Didn't see a lot of bird life, but it was around. I suspect it had taken cover as one of the falcons from the Oxwich Show which was taking place half a mile away, had gone AWOL and there was a bloke trying to relocate it whilst we were there!
We did see a Marsh Tit from the hide, which was a life tick for me. There were a couple of Pied Flycatchers about, and loads of crows and magpies etc. The air was full of Gatekeeper and Meadow Brown butterflies. The rain brought up a load of insects, which in turn brought out a large flock of Swallows. There were common lizards basking on the raised broadwalk to the hide.
All in all, I recommend a visit. If you have a sat nav, the nearest postcode I could find was Oxwich Bay Hotel (SA3 1LS), which is right next to the beach car park. The hide is about half a mile back up the road on your left, the reserve is the area on the right.

Absolute stunners and a very interesting account of your visit - the RSPB should appoint you their publicist!
Been there many times Ant Stayed in the hotel as well, always liked it but its a fair bit further than the Wetlands Also on top cliffs at the end of the beach is Perriswood Falconry Centre always worth a visit
Nice set of Pics by the way :-)
It's not an RSPB Reserve BTW .. it's run by CCW.
Thanks for the comments.
