Not a lot of Birds today but plenty of Gatekeepers and Dragons. Nice bright day on the reserve although a stiff cold breeze kept it cool
Great shots Al, that electric blue body is amazing. I'm not sure if the dragonfly is a male Common Darter on the grounds that the Ruddy Darter has all black legs but the Common Darter has a yellow stripe running down the leg (I only know this because I posted some dragonflies on 'Identify This' the other day). I found this site to be brilliant for Dragonfly ID.
If you are looking for a good ID book for your bookshelf I can recommend Britain's Dragonflies by Dave Smallshire and Andy Swash. Don't think it is one of those books that falls in the small fortune required category.
