a good weekend for butterflies in the woodlands at Northward Hill. We've had sightings of silver-washed fritillary, purple hairstreak and white letter hairstreak. Whilst out preparing the site for a school visit, Julie Peeling, one of our Field Teachers, saw a yellowhammer singing from a hawthorn bush on the marsh. She also saw a yellow-necked mouse.
There was a black-necked grebe at Northward Hill on Wednesday on the reservoir by the CSA building.
