Portmore lough is basking in the fantastic sunny conditions here today. All the ducks and grebes are illuminated like little gems on the surface of a mirror, from a view from the platform. There are over 700 feathered visitors on Portmore lough at present, rafts of pochard, tufties, wigeon, teal and even a smew are dosing and diving and just soaking up the sunshine and tranquil conditions here today, if only briefly interrupted by the trumpeting of whooper swans near by.

There is over 200 finches, including our charming tree sparrows, feeding on dropped seed in the cereal field beside the car at present and on the birds feeders along the boardwalk. We have a very cheeky robin that visits the hand of our senior volunteer here, Nigel, to take a quick beak full of seed.

We’ve just finished cleaning the information shelter and updating our bird sightings charts. Now just to have a look at what badger cam recorded last night!
