A warm day yesterday brought a lof dragonflies and damselflies out - there were broad-bodied chasers zooming about the pond in front of the visitor centre and there were plenty damselflies along the public footpath on the edge of the north brooks. I found this beautiful demoiselle where the footpath crosses the river stor, and there were a few banded demoiselles nearby - there are not many places in Sussex when you can see the two together.
Nightjars have been performing well on the heath in the last week - on monday I saw 3 birds churring, wing-clapping and generally doing nightjarry things on the edge of the heath. Hopefully the weather will be settled for a few more days so that more people can enjoy them.
