Snow on the ground today and yesterday and more predicted tonight, with very little open water left. Just like last winter...Snipe are appearing in unusual places on the higher ground due to the weather, small numbers of ducks huddled around the pools on the north brooks and west mead, and a water rail usually to be found in the ditch nr west mead hide. Yesterday evening at around 16.00, at least 1000 jackdaws (possibly 2000) and crows gathered nr west mead hide before heading off to roost in local woodlands - an impressive sight.
