Exciting news! On Friday a pair of kingfishers were seen at the bank going in and out of one of the holes! It's looking good for this year! Fingers crossed everyone! Fab picture by Malcolm Housden, this was the Rye Meads pair seen at the Kingfisher hide a couple of years ago!

Unlike some birds, kingfishers do not clean their nest. Kingfisher nest in banks -usually river banks, but here at Rye Meads we have a special nesting bank that we built for them. They will dig a long tunnel with a small doke at the end (so the eggs don't roll out). They can have upto 7 young...
