Owl be back

Owl be back

The recent rainy downpours have rejuvinated our fringes and puddles have now grown to pools. The response has been evident with seven snipe in front of Wildlife Watchpoint this morning. Lots of greenshanks and ruffs can be found throughout the reserve taking advantage of these new wet resources. An adult black tern, curlew sandpipers and a barnacle goose are on Back Saltholme and weren't put off too much by the marsh harrier that headed north over Saltholme Pools Hide.  A familiar face was seen peeking out from the nest box on the bank opposite the visitor centre. Sheltering from the squally conditions a barn owl was tucked in tightly but not so much so that he couldn't see out, or let us see in.
