Hi everyone,
Love is in the air at the this time of year. We've had displaying great crested grebes, boxing hares and ribbiting frogs galore. Now, some of Saltholme's more modest residents is starting to feel amorous - the meadow pipits.
Meadow pipits perform a wonderful display. They launch themselves into the air, calling quite slowly. When they reach the highest point of their flight, they stop flying and parachute back down to land perfectly on a fencepost, trilling rapidly. Who needs crests and boxing matches to perform a great display?
Toby snapped this meadow pipit relaxing on a fencepost - can you spot one parachuting at Saltholme? If you do, please let us know.
Bye for now,
Ben.
