If you're keen on feeding the birds in your garden, then you must head to Saltholme this Saturday. If you've got your sights set on attracting fieldfares, redwings and even waxwings, then planting shurbs that provide berries is a great place to start. Ian Forrest snapped this fieldfare on a hawthorn bush at Saltholme way back in December 2010.
On Saturday 22 October, Valda Walker, garden designer and Saltholme volunteer, will be on hand to offer expert advice on planting berry-bearing plants for birds. We'll also have a small selection of plants available for sale.
Valda will also be creating bespoke, hand-crafted autumnal displays to brighten up any home during the darker days ahead. They'll be available to take home for a small donation to the RSPB.
