Hi,
The estate team recently came across this Silver Y moth in the wildlife garden (photograph taken by Peter Langham).
A recent study has discovered that like birds many moth species, including Silver Y, migrate to northern Europe in the spring where they take advantage of the long days and abundant food supply. Offspring of the spring migrants then head south for the winter to places like the Mediterranean where they can survive and breed.
For more information on Silver Y moths take a look at this recent blog by Adrian Thomas.
Cheers,
Adam
