Well now we know for sure that we have 4 young in the nestbox viewed across Timberman's Creek at Wat Tyler CP. A couple of the young are significantly bigger than their siblings but are all now able to tear their own food as the adults just drop prey items into the box. This was taken on 23 June...

This male has been a good provider for the chicks, making an average of two food drops an hour during the period of observation. This was digiscoped with some heat haze at Wat Tyler CP on 22 June. At this stage it was unclear if there were 3 or 4 young in the box, certainly 3 were seen in an earlier...

In 2009 the kestrels used this box to rear three offspring. This year it looks as if they are planning to repeat this as they are using the box again.

We were unsure how many young were in the box but it looks like at least 3 which were fed twice in the space of an hour by the male on the afternoon of 21 June. Both adults were also seen flying in the vicinity of the nestbox.
