Male dartford warbler on Coombe Heath at Arne. 19/03/11. He seemed to be defending his patch from a pair of stonechats and entirely ignored me at a distance of less than 10 metres.

It was such a thrill to see this little chap on Coombe Heath, taken 09/03/2011. I had been to Aylesbeare Common the day before and listened to stories of an apparent wipeout during the hard winter. This is the start of Spring for me!
