After a really busy day at The Lodge yesterday, we are lighting the bonfire and preparing for this afternoon's Winter Wonderland walk. It's very mild and quite bright today, so not quite the perfect setting for the winter walk, but I'm sure it will be great;it's already fully booked and we have mulled wine and mince pies around the bonfire to finish off with.
A couple of lesser redpoll's have been on the niger feeders at the hide and a large flock of over 500 redwings, fieldfares and starlings, with the odd mistle thrush are feeding on Sandy Ridge .The regular pair of ravens are still calling noisily from the new heath, and several buzzards have been soaring this morning.
