Despite the weather not being kind to us so far this season, the wildlife is carrying on with summer regardless! Our nesting spotted flycatchers have young chicks and are seen regularly near the Gatehouse bringing in tasty insects for the young birds.

The insects have also decided it is summer! The old swimming pool by the house is fantastic for dragonflies and damselflies with four-spotted chaser, black tailed skimmer and emporer dragonflies and red-eyed, large red, common blue and blue-tailed damselflies all seen there last week. The butterflies and moths are also good to see at this time of year, with the first meadow brown butterfly spotted last week and an elephant hawkmoth hanging around the Lodge house.
