    There are loads of damselflies and dragonflies on show at The Lodge at the moment. Sunny days are best, though a bit of cloud cover does send them into the flowerbeds to conserve energy.

    This beautiful fella was hanging out by the wildlife pond. The Lodge is a really great place to see damselflies and dragonflies through spring, summer and into autumn.

    The old swimming pool is a fantastic place to watch dragonflies and damselflies (plus moorhens, the fishing crows and even a kingfisher if you've very lucky!)

    First time i had been to the lodge,as we were sitting having our lunch,this woodpecker turned up on the feeder,my kids loved seeing it

    There seems to be a good number of hornets around at the moment. They come to the ponds to drink or can be seen around the flowerbeds hunting for prey (I saw one take out a hummingbird hawkmoth a few years ago!). Though they're massive and look scary, they're not actually aggressive, so watch...
